Council approves £150M Gateshead town centre regeneration plans

A planning application submitted by Spenhill, the regeneration subsidiary of Tesco, for the regeneration of Trinity Square in Gateshead has been approved by Gateshead Council. As well as student accommodation and retail space, the mixed-use scheme will provide over 37,000 sq ft of new office space in Newcastle-upon-Tyne. 

Designed by 3DReid, the £150m proposals include a new town square, 45 retail units, offices, a student village with over 900 beds, town centre parking and a Tesco store as well as the potential for a hotel. Pedestrian links will also integrate the town centre with the existing regeneration successes at the quayside.
