Student flats set to be built on Cambrdige ‘eyesore’ site
One of Cambridge’s worst eyesores will be bulldozed after plans for student flats and a shop were approved on appeal.
The former Texaco garage site at the junction of Victoria Road, Histon Road and Huntingdon Road, currently being used as a car wash, has been branded a “disgrace” by councillors.
In November they ruled the blot on the landscape did not justify approving “unacceptable” plans for a four-storey building containing 98 bedrooms and a coffee shop.
A previous scheme had also been thrown out, but now the Planning Inspectorate has granted an appeal against the decision and allowed the development to go ahead …
