New plans submitted after historic find of World War Two relic in Newcastle

Developers have submitted fresh plans to renovate one of Newcastle’s most recognisable historic buildings after a rare World War II relic was found there.

The scheme to convert the former Newcastle Breweries headquarters, the Bruce Building, on Percy Street into student flats were granted in April.
But as developers began to draw up plans to renovate the Grade-II listed building, they came across a rare WWII fire watchers’ post.
