Derby city centre student accommodation could be built on site of former car hire depot

A block of 350 student flats could be built on the site of a former car depot in Derby city centre.

Developer London & UK Property has applied to Derby City Council to build the accommodation in Cathedral Road.

Its planning application is for the site of the former SIXT UK car hire depot and its outbuildings …

The London & UK application says: “The current proposal envisages the development of a single building, which will accommodate 350 single bed student apartments, over seven floors. The remainder of the landholding will be landscaped to provide communal outdoor space for residents, along with some car and cycle parking and service buildings.”
The council is expected to make a decision by January 30.
