Student flats plan for empty pub site – Leicester
Residents are concerned about plans to build a student accommodation complex on the site of an empty pub.
Developers have drawn up proposals which they say will breathe new life into the disused historic Manchester Hotel in Leicester’s Knighton Lane East.
The pub has stood empty since April 2009 and has been bought by Holmfield New Homes Ltd.
The firm wants to convert the 19th century building into nine flats while building a block of 47 student rooms next door …
