Concern at plan for student flats in Leicester

Concerns have been raised about plans that would see nearly 300 more student flats built in Leicester.

Developers have drawn up plans for two schemes to build apartments on former factory sites in the city.

Barton Willmore wants to build a seven-storey and five-storey building, making up 96 flats, in York Street, while The Base Ltd has lodged plans for an eight-storey complex with offices and 196 flats on where the Pretty Legs hosiery factory stood in Highcross Street before it was demolished seven years ago …
