Quirky student homes are coming to Cardiff

The creation of 139 “quirky” new student homes has been approved for land at City Road in Cardiff’s Roath suburb despite concerns about the design.

What is currently a car park housing temporary buildings at 21 to 27 City Road would be removed and student accommodation – made up of 139 units – built in their place.

But the outside of the building would be covered in a material described as resembling corrugated tin.

It would result in a wavy, textured finish made from a ‘sinusoidal’ profiled metal cladding.
