Preston Student flats plan on main street

A Preston developer wants to build a block of 55 student flats close to the city’s student village. Kerfoot Property Services, which has its head office in Goosnargh, near Preston, has submitted plans to the city’s council for the three-storey building on the corner of Aqueduct Street and Brackenbury Street.

It would see a number of industrial and workshop buildings on the site demolished to make way for the plans. In an application, Paul Erskine, of Broadway, Leyland, said it would be “a great opportunity to enhance and improve this area of Preston which is in need of reviving.” He said: “The site is irregular in shape with a slightly sloping landfall, but is a cleared vacant plot of land of aqueduct street.

It is an area of mixed development uses and is in close proximity of the student facility student on Vernon Street as well as Preston city centre.” He added that the site earmarked for development was “comfortably” capable of housing a three-storey building …
